Hitchhiker began in 2011 as an acoustic duo, with Anna Mason and Sean Jeffery, two singer-songwriters with contrasting voices, styles and methods that merge effortlessly and seamlessly. Their sound is not dominated by a set formula, but is exemplified by catchy tunes, tight vocal harmonies, and intelligent lyrics.

They have appeared on radio multiple times, including a ‘BBC Introducing...’ session with a live set from Lizzie’s Boathouse in Upton-upon-Severn, with drummer Chris Hunt and bassist Tonina Westgate augmenting their live sound. Craig Hammond (bass) and Dunstan Power (drums) were part of the band - renamed to By The Shore - from 2014 to early 2017.

‘Something To Look Forward To’ – composed by Anna – was placed at number 7 in BBC Hereford & Worcester's Andy O’Hare’s Top 10 songs of 2012.

They have performed in venues and open mic nights across the Midlands, including Worcester Music Festival, Snodfest and Colwall Family Music Festival. They played an acoustic set at the LG Arena in 2013, on the Forum Live stage, supporting the legendary Moody Blues.

Anna Mason is a talented singer/songwriter who plays guitar, bass, keyboards and bongos. But not all at the same time.
